Chapter 15
The chapter starts out with a narration from Mimi - “Sensei taught me many ‘firsts' but he betrayed me and made me suffer”. The door closes behind them and they stood staring at each other’s eyes for a second. Then, Sensei pulls Mimi into his arms. “I’m sorry, Mimi,” he apologises. Mimi is stunned. “Back then, it’s true that I was going out with other women, but I was lonely. After separating from you, I noticed that you were the only one that I truly cared for.” Mimi pushes Sensei away. “Stop it!” she yells, “I came here today to end our relationship. You’re so not fair! I won’t believe you when you apologize to me now!” Mimi continues to say, “You lied to me so much! I don’t believe that you can’t forget about me! I hate you!” Mimi takes a deep breath and looks up, and sees tears flowing down Sensei’s cheeks. Mimi’s eyes widen. Sensei grabs her arm and asks, “Is it because you found yourself a new guy? I saw you with a guy today. I won’t… I won’t let you return to him!” He pulls her into a room and locks her in. Mimi beats on the door repeatedly, yelling, “Why, Sensei!? Let me out!”. Mimi thinks that he is being a little violent, but he isn't the kind of person to do this. She looks around the room and notices that the room is extremely messy. His room used to always be clean and neat. Mimi couldn’t believe that he is living in such a place. She sees the letter she had sent to him. It was once ripped apart into shreds but now, it has been taped back together and lying on the floor. Behind the door, Sensei is sitting on the floor, with his hand over his mouth. “I like you, Mimi.” (I love you is what he wants to say, but the correct and exact translation is 'I like you'.) “Like”...the word that Mimi has always wanted to hear. “Why now?” she thinks and blushes, looking confused as ever. “It’s too late to go back!” she thinks as she tears. Her cell phone then rings. It’s Yousuke; she answers and tells him to come save her at Sensei’s apartment which Mimi had told him before she came. Sensei opens the door and takes the phone away. He then tries to kiss her but Mimi refuses. He forces her down on the floor. Mimi is surprised at a grown man’s power. He starts to kiss her on the neck. Mimi tells him to stop but he doesn’t, of course. Mimi thinks of Hikari and yells out his name. At that same moment, Yousuke enters the house and sees what Sensei is doing to Mimi. “What the hell are you doing!?” Yousuke yells and punches Sensei. Yousuke pulls Mimi to his side, and notices a hickey by Mimi’s neck. “Are you the ‘new’ boyfriend, Hikari?” asked Sensei. Yousuke replies, “Yeah, I am. Hey, Mr Ex-boyfriend, aren’t you embarrassed as a man? Chasing after your ex-girlfriend and clinging on to her. Mimi isn’t returning to you, she likes me now.” As a parting shot, Mimi says, coldly, “Sensei, good bye”,and they leave the apartment with Yousuke kicking the door closed.
Yousuke tells her that he shouldn’t have let her go to Tokyo. He tells her to forget about today, and to hide the hickey on her neck. Mimi said that she was glad that she visited Tokyo because she got to check if her feelings for Hikari are true or not. Yousuke smiles at that reply, and the next day they return to the Island. Mimi is surprised to see that Hikari is waiting for her return at the seaport. He tells her that he wanted to hurry and see her. Mimi asks Hikari to say “Welcome back” to her. He does, and she replies, “I’m home!” excitedly. She says that it brings back memories of the time when she first came back the Island. Hikari tells her that that is when she told him that he hasn’t changed at all. Hikari’s plan was reunitegrown up medoki! (Heart beat)… coolthen ‘like’ (fall in love.) Mimi tries to defend herself by saying that Hikari has always been good looking. Mimi also says, “Your height is kind of short but short dudes are popular these days. The fact that your hair isn’t perfectly super straight is kind of sad but it being a little messy is dog-like and cute if you think about it.” Hikari is shocked and says “What!? I always thought I was good looking! Then, what do you like me for!?” Mimi thinks in her head, falling in love is mysterious. I never thought of him as good looking or anything like that. But now, I like everything about him. Hikari then tries to kiss her, but Yousuke interrupts by pushing them both into the water. Hikari asks indignantly, ‘What’s your problem?’ Yousuke replies, “It’s your fault cause you guys were being lovely-dovey for too long!” Mimi starts to splash Hikari with water and thinks that she likes Hikari because she can be herself when she is with him. So that is why she is going to continue living in the Island.
Chapter 16
Mimi looks at herself in the mirror as she changes her clothes. She sees the mark Sensei has left on her neck. Yousuke knocks on the door and Mimi comes out beaming with happiness. “Good morning! Thanks for planning things just for me today!” Since Mimi is feeling down about what had happened with Sensei, Yousuke has planned a little trip to another Island nearby for the four friends. Mimi worries about sleeping outside because it’s her first time. But Hikari tells her that if something happens, he will protect her. Then he smiles to himself for saying such a boyfriend-like statement. She thinks about how protective Yousuke is and how Hikari always stays by her side. She appreciates everything that they have done for her. Sumire sees Mimi making a weird face and tells her to try not to look that way at her own boyfriend. Mimi tries to hide it, but Sumire then says “Your happiness is what matters the most, though.” That makes Mimi feels like telling Hikari how she feels about him. Later, Hikari announces that he is going fishing for dinner and ask for anybody who wants to tag along. Mimi sees that as an opportunity and immediately raises her hand high, yes! Yousuke and Sumire see that and comment silently, “Wow, she must be desperate.” Hikari and Mimi is sitting by the water, and is waiting for the fish to eat the their lines. Mimi tells herself, “Right now is the chance!” But she’s too embarrassed and can't get herself to say it. Mimi tries again, “I… li… li… lik…” Hikari interrupts, “Ugh! I can’t catch anything! I’m going to go catch it with my bare hands!” He jumps into the water and doesn’t come up for a long time. Mimi starts to worry. She calls his name in panic, almost in tears. Then, a splash of water hits her and before she can help it, she is being pulled under water and being kissed by Hikari ♥ She thinks to herself, I like you so much. So she finally gets herself some courage. She pulls Hikari by his shirt and stops him. “I like you, Hikari. I never had the good timing to tell you this but…” Hikari interrupts her again. “Oh… I didn’t know that it was your first time saying “like” to me.” Mimi pauses in disbelief. “I actually don’t care though; you can tell that someone likes you by their actions. You don’t have to tell me that all of sudden. Anyway, we still haven’t caught any fish.” Mimi paused once again in her head. What did he just say? “I built up so much courage to say that and you… you don’t have any decency at all, do you!? How can you say ‘I don’t care, you don’t have to tell me that’!?” Hikari is actually confused. “Why are you pissed off so suddenly!?” Mimi yells back, “Never mind! You’ll never know! You don’t need to know! Hikari is an idiot!”
Mimi runs off to Sumire, hugging her. “I had a fight with Hikari. Instead of telling Hikari that I liked him, I told him that he is an idiot.” Sumire hugs back, “Mimi, did you get more child-ish since you started to date Hikari?” Back to Hikari, he goes to tell Yousuke that he had a fight with Mimi. “Is it okay to leave it alone?” Yousuke questions. “Its fine, it’s not that big of a deal. I’ll go apologize to her when she calms down.” Yousuke is surprised. “Hikari, did you become more grown up since you started dating Mimi?” “Really? I don’t think so, I’m sure fights are common when you’re dating. I can’t keep paying attention to every fight all the time.” Mimi overhears that and runs off again. Hikari chases after her this time and finds her sitting on top of a tree. “This is the place where I confessed to you.” Hikari then tells her, “About before, I didn’t mean it like that. I’m trying not to think about small things! Our relationship in going to last through our life time! The truth is, I do care about every small thing. I liked you since I was little, I don’t want you to dislike me nor have another guy take you away. I was really worried about you going to Tokyo too.“That made Mimi think about Sensei, which she hasn't tell Hikari about yet. “But, I can’t keep being weak about these things. What’s happening now is more important than what happened in the past.” Mimi wonders, “Is it because he wants to spend the rest of his life with me?” “I was wondering, next year, we have to decide on our future, right? I’m thinking about continuing my father’s boat business and working hard to earn money. So… will you marry me?” Mimi freezes. She starts to think, “Yes, Hikari always go past my thoughts so easily.” She covers her face with her hands and look down. Hikari asks, “Is that a yes?” “Idiot!!!” Mimi replies while blushing and tears forming in her eyes. A few minutes later, she is saying, “This is the living room, where we’re going to relax,” and draws the room with a big tree branch on the sand. “And this is the bathroom. If we’re going to live together, it has to be a one-storey house!” replied Hikari, drawing with Mimi. When they are done, they sit in their “living room” thinking, “Our map of the future spreads endlessly.” In the corner, the blue cat watches over them. Later at night, the four friends come together to watch the night sky. “It’s so weird, after becoming an adult, it's the first time we are still lying here together to watch the starry sky,” said Sumire. “Adult… we’re only in high school,” said Yousuke. (They are all 17 yeas old.) “What!? I thought being in high school is considered an adult! But I guess we’re still kids,” Hikari replied. “Anyway… from now on, even after 5 years or 10 years, I hope that the four of us can stay together,” said Mimi ending the conversation.
Chapter 17
“When I graduate from high school, I’m going to get married to Hikari (Probably).”So goes the narration from Mimi. Mimi and Hikari are at the jewelry store where Yousuke works. They are choosing rings for themselves. Hikari suggests a blue stone for Mimi because Mimi has a really white skin complexion (PS In Japan, the whiter you are, the prettier) Mimi doesn't agree, since Hikari is a guy, a much simpler ring would be better. When Yousuke asks what they are looking for, they answer proudly that they are looking for a “Proof of Love.” Yousuke tells them that the store doesn’t sell rings for high school students who aren’t sure of their plan. Mimi agrees in her head that it’s uncertain, but she is getting bemused by her romance. Then, Mimi sees an advertisement for a job at the jewelry store. She asks if the job is still open and finds out that it is. When Yousuke asks her why, Mimi blushes and doesn’t answer. She thought that she should get a job if she is going to get married and Hikari is going to work as well. Suddenly, a Mariya interrupts, “I understand, girls are better planned than guys.” (Mariya is Yousuke’s boss and owner of the jewelry store.) Mariya offers to teach Mimi that day if she’s interested and Mimi exclaims with excitement. She tells Hikari to go home before her. Mariya shows her all the jewelry she makes to sell at the store and Mimi is amazed at how beautiful they are. Mariya also gives Mimi the earrings that she has fixed for her and Mimi blushes with happiness. (That earring is a gift from Hikari that got broken a few chapters back.) Mariya then comments that they make a good couple. Mimi disagrees and says that they get into fights a lot but maybe that’s because she isn’t honest. When Mariya hears that, she kisses Mimi on the cheek because she’s soooooo cute. Mimi freaks out and runs to the corner, covering her cheek with her hands. Mariya laughs and apologizes for it. She then tells Mimi, “Liking someone is a good thing. You want that person to like you so you want to be honest and become prettier, and you will work hard for it. I think the only thing that can make someone grow up is love!” Mimi starts to get attracted to Mariya's straight back (to signify her strong spirit), and her strong words. It makes her heart beat faster because she is an extremely cool person to her. Mimi sees her as a true grown up woman, and the person Yousuke likes.
Later, after her tryout at the jewelry store ends, she goes to find Yousuke so that they can go home together. Instead, she finds Yousuke and Mariya making out. Mimi quickly hides from embarrassment and probably felt guilty for interrupting them too. Yousuke nonchalantly comes to her and they go home together. On their way back, Mimi tells Yousuke that he really is an adult, and being able to go out with a cool adult like Mariya is adult-like too. Yousuke chuckles and tells her that it’s not like that. She is more childish than she looks and that she might look strong but sometimes, she can be weak. He says that he has to become an adult for her. Mimi blushes at hearing such an honest words and agrees with Mariya-san’s opinion about how love makes someone grow up. Before going back to her house, Mimi stops by at Hikari’s house because she is bored and she wants to talk to him. She tries to tell Hikari about Yousuke’s relationship with Mariya but he tells her that she could have told him tomorrow at school. That made him thinks that she wanted to ‘spend some time’ with him, and tells her that his father isn’t home, so they can do it if they want. Mimi bluntly says that is not what she came for. However, in her mind, she is wishing that she could have told him that it was because she suddenly wanted him to hold her. Hikari tries to kiss her but Mimi suddenly remembers that she had left her already-fixed earrings at the store and decides to go get it. Hikari and Mimi shares an umbrella while holding hands in the rain,. Mimi thinks that if they are going to get married, if they are going to stay together forever, then maybe it’s okay to take some time to be honest. They reach the store and notices that the light is still on. They can see Mariya and a man from the window. They thought it was a customer, but the guy kisses her and they start making out. Hikari and Mimi couldn’t believe what they are seeing, and drop the umbrella on the ground. Hikari is pissed off and asks Mimi if Yousuke is really going out with her. Mimi says yes, but she then remembers that Yousuke has never said “His girlfriend” before. Hikari says, “What the hell is that!?” and they both enter the store. Hikari tells Mariya that they came to get the earrings Mimi left. Mariya hands it over to her while smiling nonchalantly. Mimi asks nervously, “Mariya-san… who is he?” “I guess You-chan (Yousuke) didn't tell you. I’m only 23 and most people don’t think I am but I’m married, and he is my husband,” Mariya replied with a half smile. Mimi is confused, and she tries asking her more but Hikari has pulles her out of the store. Hikari exclaims that he is going to ask Yousuke about his relationship with Mariya. Mimi tells him that he is wrong and that she definitely saw him kissing Mariya, so they must be going out. But Hikari says that is not possible when Mariya is married to someone else. He thinks that Yousuke is being played. Mimi abruptly remembers Yousuke telling her that there is no one sided love that isn’t painful. Mimi tells Hikari that she will handle things with Yousuke and to leave it to her. When Hikari asks her why, she only pleads with him, “Please.” At that moment, Mimi turned her head to the side and Hikari sees the ‘mark’ on her neck. Hikari's eyes widen in shock and curiosity. Mimi goes to Yousuke and starts talking immediately. “Mariya-san has a ring on her wedding finger, doesn’t she? She wears a lot of jewelry so I never noticed. But on her right hand, she wore her wedding ring, and on her neck, she wore a matching necklace as you. Does such a light like allowed? Are you okay with it? She might be playing with you! She might never be yours! Even so, you…” Mimi yelled, but ended up crying. When Yousuke saw that, he said that he was being charged, but it turns out that Mimi is getting hurt by Yousuke. He then tells her, “Did it remind you of the past?” (Referring to Sensei) That made her think that she knows how he feels. It’s wrong, but you can’t stop. He then hugs her strongly. Mimi states, “Being in love means that you can’t stop.”

Yakitate no J.L, B: thanks for the Summary.
Im starting to think Blue means PAINFUL LOVE, everyone in this story has a painful love, weather its a childhood love, a taboo love or an adulterous love. I cant wait for the next chapter, I feel bad for You.
WOOHOO YOUSUKE ! =)
I kinda prefer him because he's more caring and careful and SERIOUS towards everything. Not like Hikari that just blurts out after only weeks of dating "LETS GET MARRIED."
WTH? Blue is truly undeniably interesting.
kyaaa~~i hope sumire won´t indulge in a weird love story..i hope she wont be in a love situation like those three~~ haha just find a good man sumire~~
I love both hikari and yousuke!
This manga sure is interesting!
Wow, that teacher is a real scumbag. He is just jealous that Mimi found a new guy, and then he tries to rape her! I like Yousuke more than Hikari, but Mimi already slept with Hikari so I suppose she is going to end up with him.
I still hope that Mimi will end up with Yousuke. He's so much better than Hikari ,in my opinion.
Loooove Yousuke!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I don't like Yousuke's boss. She's just a selfish, horrible person. She has a husband, but wants to play around with a 17 yr. old. How disgusting is that? I hope someone tells her husband. And after this chapter, I really feel Mimi would be better of with Yousuke than Hikari.
Yousuke's Okay... but i still <3 Hikari more X3
oh well idc who c ryly ends up with cuz both of em r sooo cute ^________________^
